Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of both men and women in the United States. 2008 & 2009 updates!!

It's been a long time since I've posted a bulletin for this site.

But wanted to update you all!

2008 Hemet Relay For Life was a HUGE success! We made goal! Whooo Hooo! It was $51,000K and we made just over that, but we made it and that's all that matters! Last week we had our Wrap Up party and it was great seeing everyone again!

2009 is underway and has been turned over to Miss Marcia. Don't coun't me out though, cause I'm still going to be around...as your 'communications chair'! The committee will be hearing from me as Marcia's liaison!!! Aren't you/they lucky!

What we do know is a date has been set for April of 2009 for our next Relay and the theme is SUPERHERO'S!!! How fun!!!

Be on the lookout for more info here!!!!

Our new Relay Team!!!

The Few. The Proud. The Marines.

I am so proud of this picture. These guys not only fighting this battle in Iraq to make our world safer, but battleing this war against cancer too! Bill (8th from the left) was on my team last year and was dissappointed he wouldn't be able to participate this year because of his tour of duty in Iraq. So we sent the Relay to him. We sent a box of shirts, a banner and some other items for them to enjoy. And look at this picture!! I'm setting up their team on our website this week as soon as I get all the guys names. I'll post a link on here to their website so anyone who wants to support these guys can. If they could bring in just $100 that would be so cool. I know I'll be donating to them! It'll be an honor to. Enjoy!!!

Our Christmas Parade!

Thanks to everyone that came out and participated in our Christmas Parade. It was SO cold and windy and although not everyone showed up (and I don't blame them at all), it was a great turnout! These Survivors are the best. They hung in there, had a great time and didn't complain once. I did all the complaining! Ha! Ha!

It was a crazy morning! The rain caused us to not be able to decorate the night before. And even though our float didn't win, it came together beautifully and we had a great time!

Our Driver, Dave, from Clark's Towing was a lot of fun. He went above and beyond helping us decorate even though he had been up all night pulling cars out of flood waters. As we were going down Florida Ave. on our parade path, he honked the horn and everyone was cheering.

It was FUN! Thanks to everyone who came!!

Christmas Parade & More....

I've got the paperwork for the parade. Waiting on one small piece of info then I'll turn it in with the application fee. We'll have the trailer to decorate the night before, so let's start thinking of a theme.
Relay U is Saturday. Looking forward to that. Everyone who is going is going to learn so much about Relay from what I understand. This is my first year also, so hopefully I'll retain what I learn and be able to put it to good use.
Interested Party is coming as is our 2008 Kick Off Party. Looking forward to that. We've got good 'ol Randy Houston coming as our Survivor Speaker. I just got a Gospel Choir to sing 'Amazing Grace' during the Luminaria ceremony. I've got a couple of tear jerking shows to show everyone...last a total of 20 minutes. Went and confirmed all the details with Donna and Cheryl today at Datillo's. It's going to be great.
See those of you who are going to Relay U this weekend!

Update....

I got us on the calendar to get our banner put up across Florida and Kirby for 2 weeks prior to our Relay. I also have the banners in at 'Ink-redibles' having the dates changed.
The paperwork is coming in the mail next week to fill out so that we can have a float in the parade this year. So let's start thinking of some fun ways to get us noticed!

First Team Captain Meeting

Our first TC Meeting went really well. We had Team Captains & Co-Captains show up from 6 of our teams. That's much better than our attempt at a meeting last month. A few things we went over...
-Turning in Commitment Forms asap!
-When filling out the scannable forms...make sure it's in BLACK pen and in CAPITAL Letters! Very important. However, we are going online in mid-November and this will take most if not all of the paperwork out of the registration process.
It was a pleasure seeing some of you all again and I'm looking forward to our Relay!

Relay University

October 6th at Cal State San Bernardino. Let's all meet up at the new Starbucks on Esplande and Sanderson at 7:00am and carpool up. Registration and sign in start at 8:00 with breakfast. The actual training will start at promptly 9:00 am! I'd love it if we got some shoe polish and wrote fun stuff on our car windows for the trip up. It'll be fun!
Remember, even though you have RSVP'd at EVITE.com with me, you still need to register to be there. Go here to do that:
What a fun day we will all have!!!

Update...

Today I have sent out a letter to California Speedway requesting donation of memorabilia to decorate our track. How nice would it be to turn our track into a mini California Speedway? That would just be icing on the cake. So keep your fingers crossed that they accept our request. They have so many requests each year that they just can't do them all which is very understandable. But it certainly never hurts to ask anyway.
I'm looking forward to our next Committee Meeting and our next Team Captain Meeting in September!

Teams, Teams, Teams!!!

Teams: That's how we'll reach our goal! The more teams our Relay has, the more money that will be brought in. We have yet to set team goals and fundraising goals but that doesn't mean we can't start recruiting teams. So for every team or person who brings in a new team they will get an incentive in the way of spirit bucks. $5000 'Team Recruitment' spirit bucks for every NEW team brought in! And which ever team or person has the most Team Recruitment bucks come Relay day, will recieve a prize at closing ceremonies and/or the Wrap Up Party! (The teams have to register, fundraise and show up on Relay day).
